The AEGON Masters Tennis - held at the Royal Albert Hall in London

A unique opportunity to see the legends of the sport in action

Masters 2011 - McEnroe

We’re the title sponsor of the AEGON Masters Tennis, held at the majestic Royal Albert Hall in London.

This exciting tournament gives fans a rare opportunity to see some of the all-time tennis greats back on court, with previous players including John McEnroe, Pat Cash and Tim Henman.

We're proud to support this very special tournament, which brings to life our belief that retirement can be just the beginning of an exciting new future.

A line-up of tennis stars

The tournament celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2011 with a new format. Alongside the regular ATP Champions Tour event, a brand new 'Legends' field was introduced for veteran champions like McEnroe and Cash.

McEnroe made the most of the opportunity to pick up his fifth title at the Masters event and his first since 2003, saying: 'I never thought I’d win another title here. It’s a great place to play tennis and ... it means a lot that people still want to watch me play.'

AEGON Masters 2011 - Henman

Meanwhile, the ATP Champions Tour competition attracted a strong field, including big-servers Goran Ivanisevic and Mark Philippoussis as well as 'the magician' Fabrice Santoro, who only retired from the main tour in 2010.

However, victory went to British favourite Tim Henman as he defeated Thomas Enqvist in the final to pick up his maiden ATP Champions Tour title and his first ever title in London after making four Wimbledon semi-finals and three runner-up appearances at Queen's.

The packed crowds also enjoyed an entertaining programme of doubles matches featuring trick-shot specialist Mansour Bahrami, Henri Leconte and Andrew Castle.

A special tennis experience

Royal Albert Hall

It’s not just the player line-up that makes this event so unique. Each year it takes place in the historic setting of the Royal Albert Hall in London. Named after Prince Albert, who proposed the building to promote the arts and sciences, this world-famous venue has been in constant use since it was opened by Queen Victoria in 1871.

Its sumptuous interior is transformed into a tennis arena especially for this event (see image right), giving fans the chance to see their sporting heroes in an intimate atmosphere.
