Great success for the AEGON GB Fed Cup Team
The AEGON GB Fed Cup Team have been promoted to take part in the World Group II Play-Offs. After winning all three of their Group I pool matches against Portugal, The Netherlands and Israel, they went on to win the final play-off against Austria (2-0).
This is a fantastic achievement by the team, consisting of Anne Keothavong, Elena Baltacha, Laura Robson and Heather Watson, and marks a huge step forward for British Tennis.

On their route to the play-off against Austria, the team defeated Portugal (3-0), the Netherlands (2-1) and host nation Israel (3-0). This was a great result for new captain Judy Murray, who was appointed last December.
Speaking after the victory, AEGON GB Fed Cup Team Captain Judy Murray said: 'Right now I'm absolutely over the moon that we've managed to win all our matches, to win our group, and then win the play-offs to get ourselves a promotion play-off. It is everything that I would have hoped for and I'm just so, so proud of the team after what they've achieved this week.'
British No.1 Elena Baltacha, who was unbeaten in her four matches, said: 'We have fought our hearts out this week, and I'm so proud to have done this with the girls. This group of players is really special and I think we deserve this success. I do genuinely feel it's onwards and upwards for us now, which is a very exciting prospect.'
This victory means that the AEGON GB Fed Cup Team will be in action in the World Group II Play-Offs in April 2012. The draw will take place on 14 February.
