Murray and BBC commit to the AEGON Championships
We’re pleased to confirm that the AEGON Championships and the BBC have extended their partnership for a further five years, ensuring that the tournament will receive at least 20 hours of live terrestrial television coverage every year until 2017.
The BBC first began screening the prestigious grass-court event in 1979, and this deal will take coverage of international tennis at The Queen's Club into its 40th year.
This year, all seven days of the tournament will be broadcast live on BBC 1, BBC 2 and the red button, with coverage also on BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC Sport website. The tournament will also be broadcast in High Definition on BBC1HD and BBC HD. In addition to the BBC coverage, the event will also be broadcast every day by Eurosport.
Andy Murray commits himself for five years
The World No.4 and defending champion Andy Murray (pictured here winning the tournament in 2011) has also committed himself to the AEGON Championships for the next five years. Fans will be thrilled to see the British number one in action at the tournament that he’s won twice in 2009 and 2011.
When Murray first won the historic event in 2009, our first year as Lead Partner of British Tennis, he became the first British winner in over 70 years.
