We’re delighted to sponsor the AEGON Masters Tennis. Held at the majestic Royal Albert Hall in London from 30 November to 5 December 2010, this is the season finale to the ATP Champions Tour and brings together many of the tennis greats to face each other once again. Last year’s line-up included Stefan Edberg, Pat Cash, Mansour Bahrami and Henri Leconte, with two-time US Open Champion Pat Rafter taking the inaugural title.

Tim Henman comeback

2010 promises to be equally special with former British number one Tim Henman coming out of retirement for his first competitive match. He holds the event in high regard, stating:

‘For me there could be no better place to start to play tennis again than at the Royal Albert Hall in the AEGON Masters Tennis. I always felt that if I started to play tennis again it would be in London first. The event has been going for 14 years, the Royal Albert Hall is such a special place to play and I’ve seen the event grow in stature and the competition get better and better’

He’ll be joined by a host of former champions including Goran Ivanisevic all battling it out to win the coveted title.

The event consists of two groups of four singles players competing in a round-robin format, with the winners of each group meeting in a thrilling final. There are also competitive doubles matches and exhibition tennis, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

A special tennis experience

It’s not just the player line-up that makes this event so unique. Each year it takes place in the majestic Royal Albert Hall in London. Named after Prince Albert, who proposed the building to promote the Arts and Sciences, this world-famous venue has been in constant use since it was opened by Queen Victoria in 1871. Its sumptuous interior is transformed into a tennis arena especially for this event, giving fans the chance to see their sporting heroes in an intimate atmosphere.
